The Israel Museum.

In honor of its 50th anniversary, the Israel Museum in Jerusalem has launched a major exhibition, “A Brief History of Humankind,” open through January 2, 2016. The show centers around 14 pivotal objects drawn from the Israel Museum’s permanent collections, which illustrate the unfolding of civilization from prehistory to modern times. The objects on view include: The remains of the first use of fire in a communal setting; the first tools used by humankind; rare examples of the co-existence of Homo sapiens and Neanderthals; the earliest evidence of writing; the first coins; ancient written evidence of the Ten Commandments; and the manuscript of Albert Einstein’s Special Theory of Relativity.

Don’t miss the balloon-bending clown; a birthday bag for every child; Callistro the Magician; the dancing-clown figures who will delight all who pass by as they dance with and mimic visitors. Come film and be filmed; surprise and be surprised. Stop by the ice-cream truck and feast on the cupcakes and the huge birthday cake, release a flock of balloons into the sky, and many more fun surprises.  For times and more information, please click here.
