Prayer Reflection Holy Land Israel Garden of Gethsemane

Garden Of Gethsemane, Israel, Mount of Olives

Prayer Reflection Holy Land Israel Garden of Gethsemane

The olive tree is connected to our Christian faith as Jesus prayed under an olive tree in his way to Jerusalem after the last supper and before his crucifixion on a cross made of the olive wood taken from the olive trees near the garden of Gethsemane in Jerusalem.

Jesus and His disciples often retreated to this grove, or garden, to pray and mediate.  You can find references to The Garden of Gethsemane in Matthew  26:36-50; Mark 14:32-46; Luke 22:39-49 and John 18:1-2

Olive trees can be found throughout Israel. Historians believe the first tree took root along the cost of the eastern Mediterranean around 4,000 B.C.   Olive trees can be found throughout the Garden of Gethsemane and remnants of an olive grove can be found at the base of Mount of Olives from the time of Jesus Christ.

On our Holy Land tours, you may request time to reflect and pray in the Garden of Gethsemane.   The Garden of Gethsemane is by reservation only, so please let your tour consultant know you want to add this stop during your tour.
