Israel – Mount of Beatitudes – The Mount of Beatitudes is the traditional site of the Sermon on the Mount, (Matthew 5-7) where Jesus began with the Beatitudes, meaning “Blessings”(Matthew 5:3-11). It is one of the beautiful spots in the Holy Land overlooking the northwestern shore of the Sea of Galilee and a great view of the Golan Heights on the other side. It is also thought to be the spot where He made His choice of the 12 disciples (Luke 6:12-6).
Israel – Qumran – The Dead Sea scrolls were found in a series of eleven caves around the settlement, some accessible only through the settlement. Some scholars have claimed that the caves were the permanent libraries of the sect, due to the presence of the remains of a shelving system. Many of the texts found in the caves appear to represent widely accepted Jewish beliefs and practices, while other texts appear to speak of divergent, unique, or minority interpretations and practices.
Germany – Oberammergau Passion Play – After our tour of the Holy Land we travel to Germany where we will attend the Oberammergau Passion Play! In 1633, in the quaint Bavarian town of Oberammergau, gripped by war, poverty and plague, the villagers of Oberammergau vowed to put on a ‘passion play’ every ten years if their village was spared. They survived, and performed the very first Oberammergau Passion Play in 1634. Ever since, their descendants have carried out this pledge, giving you the opportunity to attend this unique experience in 2022 (postponed from 2020).
Germany – Munich – Bavaria’s capital, is home to centuries-old buildings and numerous museums. We drive down Maximilian Street to the Senate and Diat of Bavaria, Museum of Enthology, Opera House, Hofgrauhaus, and Joseph Platz to the Royal Residence. Proceed through the imposing streets and squares to the Theatiner Church, Marienplatz, New and Old Town Halls, Peters Church and Municipal Museum.
