Conestoga Huts for the Homeless in Eugene Oregon
Huts for Homeles Huts for HomelessRecently on our Facebook page we shared a similar article that talked about how the town of Eugene, OR is finding new solutions to assist the homeless population. They are using Conestoga huts which cost average of 250 -600 dollars versus the tiny homes which cost about 10,000 dollars or Components to these huts are very basic 6 by 10 foot insulated flooring and two insulated walls. For the roof they use metal wire covered with insulation and outdoor vinyl. Who knew that such simple materials could provide someone with a home. People are placing these around town in allowed parking lots, churches and some neighborhoods. I did read that there are areas of town that have been permitted to place these huts as there own little neighborghood going forward. Which will help give these individuals a sense of community and a way to engage with others. This dynamic solution provides someone with stability, warmth and a place to keep their belongings as they navigate the next steps. It’s important to remember that we are all one bad choice or situation away from being homeless. We just need to find solutions that can give them a foundation that provides a stable environment to getting back on track. Because sometimes we all just need a helping hand.
