Explore Laodicea Turkey – as an ancient city built on the river Lycus. It was located in the Hellenistic regions of Caria and Lydia, which later became the Roman Province of Phrygia Pacatiana.
Colossians 4:13-16
13 I vouch for him that he is working hard for you and for those at Laodicea and Hierapolis. 14 Our dear friend Luke, the doctor, and Demas send greetings. 15 Give my greetings to the brothers and sisters at Laodicea, and to Nympha and the church in her house.
16 After this letter has been read to you, see that it is also read in the church of the Laodiceans and that you in turn read the letter from Laodicea.
Explore Laodicea Turkey Travel with Purpose Maranatha Tours – With its large Jewish community, Laodicea very early became a seat of Christianity. The Epistle to the Colossians mentions Laodicea as one of the communities of concern for Paul. It sends greetings from a certain Epaphras from Colossae, who worked hard for the Christians of the three Phrygian cities of Colossae, Laodicea and Hierapolis. Some Greek manuscripts of the First Epistle to Timothy end with the words: “Written at Laodicea, metropolis of Phrygia Pacatiana”. Laodicea is also one of the seven churches of Asia mentioned in the Book of Revelation.
Laodicea In the Bible – The church of Laodicea is mentioned several times in the Bible: Colossians 2:1; Colossians 4:13-16; Revelation 1:11 and Revelation 3:14.
Jesus directed John to write a letter about current conditions in Laodicea, and his report was not very favorable. The Laodicea church, the letter said, had some serious spiritual problems. (See Revelation 3:14-21)
Laodicea was neither hot nor cold — “you are lukewarm” (Revelation 3:16).
Explore Laodicea Turkey Travel with Purpose Maranatha Tours – The Laodicea Theatre – The Northern Theater.- Built in the first century, it had a capacity for 12,000 spectators and is thought was used, among other “prosaic” tasks, for performing aquatic shows. The Western Theater.- It is somewhat smaller than the northern theater, with a estimated capacity of 8000 spectators. It is also older, dating from the Hellenistic period of the city.
