Bethsaida is a is a city east of the Jordan River.  The city of Bethsaida is mentioned in the New Testament as a place where Jesus lived.  Scripture reads that Bethsaida is where Jesus fed multitude people with five loaves of bread and two fish. (Luke 9).  It is also mentioned in scripture as described in (Mark 8:22–26) as a town where Jesus met a blind man seeking healing. Jesus led the man outside the town before healing him and asked him not to return to the town, nor to inform the people of the town, after his sight was restored.

This Biblical scripture in the new testament has made Bethsaida an important part of Christian pilgrimages.  Many Christians travel to the Bethsaida  area because of its Biblical importance.  Learn more about traveling to Israel and join one of our pilgrimages through the Holy Land.  Our Christian guided tours will bring the Bible to color.

The Bethsaida Project has been excavating the Golan Heights area for over 30 years and today a new discovery has been made.  Archaeologists have uncovered an entrance gate to the biblical city of Zer. The city was named Zer during the First Temple period (the Old Testament).  Scripture points to (Joshua 19:35) that Zer was one of the fortified cities for the people of Naphtali, one of the 12 tribes of Israel.  The scripture reads “the fortified towns were Ziddim, Zer, Hammath, Rakkath, Kinnerth.”
