Bethlehem Christmas Festivities In Bethlehem, the annual tree lighting tradition marks the official start of the Christmas season. The 50 foot tree stands in the city square just across from the Church of the Nativity – the city’s main church built over the site believed to be Jesus’ birthplace. Our group will have a special time where Jesus was born to welcome in the Christmas season.
The Hadrianic aqueduct of Caesarea Maritima The ruins of Caesarea, sometimes referred to as Caesarea Maritima to distinguish it from Caesarea Philippi, lie on the Mediterranean coast of present-day Israel. When construction began, Caesarea had no reliable source of fresh water, so King Herod commissioned a raised aqueduct to deliver water from springs about ten miles to the northeast.
Tel Megiddo is the site of the ancient city of Megiddo, the remains of which form a tell (archaeological mound), situated in northern Israel near Kibbutz Megiddo. Megiddo is known for its historical, geographical, and theological importance, especially under its Greek name Armageddon. During the Bronze Age, Megiddo was an important Canaanite city-state and during the Iron Age, a royal city in the Kingdom of Israel.
