Archeologists in Egypt Discover Ramp System That Built Pyramids

For centuries archeologists have wondered how the towering pyramids of Giza were created by hand thousands of years ago.  They knew they had to place every stone by hand but how did they carry those heavy stones to the top. Just recently the archeologists have uncovered the answered.

While excavating, the archeologists discovered the remains of a 4,5000 year old ramp at the alabaster quarry.  Researchers now believe the ancient Egyptians carried the stones up steep angles via this ramp. The Egyptians would use a sled to place the block inside and attach a rope to the wooden post handles and pull the alabaster blocks up the ramp.

Along the ramp, researchers found post holes that lined the two sets of stairs that they believe the Egyptians would tie to the sleds and use a pulley system so they could move the sleds in either direction.

When you travel with Maranatha Tours to Egypt, you will view the pyramids of Giza in person. As you stand there in amazement, you will understand better the amount of work needed to create these wonders. The Pyramid of Giza stands about 450 feet high and was built around 4,500 years ago. It’s the largest of the group of pyramids at Giza, the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and breathtaking.
