11 Things You Need To Know About Traveling The Dead Sea Israel

All of our Maranatha Tours Israel groups will have the opportunity to visit The Dead Sea while on their tour.   Over the years we have had passengers send us suggestions, experiences and good information to pass along to other passengers.  Maranatha Tours years of expertise for  over 45 years of traveling to Israel helps us prepare our passengers for every encounter while in Israel.

The Dead Sea is a body of water that has 9.6 times as much salt as the ocean and this is the reason the water experience is so different than most have experienced.  The water is full of thousands of minerals and  passengers have different reactions to the water.   Here are some tips we would like  to share with you to ensure you have an amazing experience at The Dead Sea.

  1. Bring a towel in your suitcase if you plan on swimming in The Dead Sea or you can purchase a souvenir towel at the one of the stores.

  2. Bring a swimsuit if you want to float in the water.

  3. It is one of the warmest spots on our tour, so wear shorts that day if possible or dress cool.

  4. Bring old tennis shoes, flips flops or water shoes.  The ground in the Dead Sea can be uncomfortable.

  5. Bring a change of clothes on the tour that day so you can get back on the tour bus dry.

  6. Bring a bag to place all your wet clothes in to transfer back to the hotel.

  7. The Dead Sea is full of minerals and salt that can cause discomfort if you have a cut or nick on your skin.

  8. Do not try to lay on your stomach, always float on your back. If your face goes under water, you may not be able to flip back over.

  9. There are restrooms and changing rooms to use and lockers are available for rent.

  10. If you have a sulphur or sodium allergy, you may not want to get into the water.  You could have a reaction the salt and minerals.

  11. For those passengers who choose not to float in the Dead Sea, there are shaded seating areas to rest and take in the scenery.

The Dead Sea is one of the best relaxing days while touring in Israel and Maranatha Tours hopes these ideas makes your visit even better.
